MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Sunday afternoon.

David Murray, 64, of Mount Pleasant, died at 5:11 p.m. at the Medical University of South Carolina from injuries sustained in the crash, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

The crash happened at approximately 4:36 p.m. in the area of Rifle Range Road and Ben Sawyer Boulevard, Sgt. Ashley Croy said.

EMS took Murray to an area hospital where he died, she said.

The lanes going to Sullivan’s Island from Mount Pleasant were shut down for nearly three hours while officers investigated the crash.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the circumstances of the crash, but there has been no word on whether any charges are expected.
