Drag racing legend Harry Haig of Shepparton, Australia, has reportedly died in a car accident, his death sending a wave of shock and grief all over the racing community.

Like many racing legends before him, Haig passed away following a tragic car accident. Details of the crash are scanty but there were reportedly three people in the car with two dead and one in critical condition.

Haig’s death caused a seismic shock within the drag and drive community with many taking to social media to share their tributes and best memories of Haig.

I’ve never known anyone more full of crap and life than Harry….” Taylor said. “[He] was larger than life! He was a guy that genuinely enjoyed every moment of his time on earth,”

He added condolences for his son, Corty, his family, friends and all in the racing community.

Harry Haig according to all accounts was boisterous, a daredevil in all sense of the word.

In his drag racing career, he registered some major wins including the first Ultimate Burnout Challenge in 2009 with his blown small block Ford pulling over 9000rpm.

He was mostly known for driving his Aussie Chevelle during Drag Week. It went into countless battles with him and always had his back.

Haig would be missed for his daring antics during Drag Week and beyond. May he rest in peace.
