ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers “re-engaged in conversations mid-day today regarding San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk.”

This comes after talks “stalled” Monday, per Schefter.

Per multiple other reports, the 49ers have also engaged with the Cincinnati Bengals’ fellow AFC North rival, the Cleveland Browns, as well as the New England Patriots about Aiyuk.

Aiyuk, a 26-year-old fifth-year pro, has been attempting to receive a contract extension from the 49ers rather than play the 2024 season on his fifth-year option. Last season, the 6-foot receiver helped San Francisco reach the Super Bowl by catching 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

If he wins up in Pittsburgh, the Steelers would be able to form a wide receiver duo of Aiyuk and George Pickens that would be among the NFL’s best.

The Bengals will play the Steelers on December 1st in Cincinnati and in the regular season finale on January 5th in Pittsburgh.
