Tributes have been paid to a “bright star” teenage girl who died in a crash involving a lorry

Georgia Scarff, 16, from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, died following a collision on the westbound carriageway of the A14.

The accident happened between junctions 44 and 43 at about 01:30 BST on 6 June and Georgia died at the scene.

Her family has paid tribute to her and said she had a bright future ahead of her that would have been “filled with remarkable achievements”.

“We have been left devastated by the loss of our beloved Georgia,” her family continued.

“Georgia was a star in every sense of the word, shining bright with the promise of a future filled with remarkable achievements and profound impact.

“She was a keen sports person, excelling in hockey, tchoukball, fitness training and more recently rugby. She had achieved both her bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and was already well into her gold award.”

Georgia was due to sit her GCSE exams this summer and was expected to perform well before continuing onto her A-levels.

“Whilst she downplayed her successes, we were hugely proud of all her achievements,” her family continued in their tribute.

“She was a star shining bright and we were blessed to have her for the short time we held her close, but we know she will always be with us in spirit.”
