Brendan Rodgers is aiming to upgrade the Celtic team for next season, and the Champions League money heading Parkhead’s way will make a significant impact in his recruitment budget.

Celtic earned more than £30 million from their Champions League exploits last season, and the club is expected to earn much more in the new structure.
As we all know, a goalkeeper is at the top of Rodgers’ priority list following Joe Hart’s retirement, and based on the current gossip, it appears the club is working hard to address that position sooner rather than later.

Celtic are also in talks with Benfica to clinch a permanent transfer with Paulo Bernardo, while Rodgers has made his intentions clear over former loan striker Adam.

However, other positions in the team require reinforcement, and the Celtic manager might address two of them this summer without paying any transfer costs.

Leicester City’s Luke Thomas might be free this summer.
Brendan Rodgers knows this player well from his time as Leicester City manager. Luke Thomas is a teenage left-back who won the FA Cup and Community Shield while under the Celtic manager’s supervision at Leicester.

Thomas was a fixture in Rodgers’ Leicester team, making over 85 appearances for the club during the Irishman’s three-season stint.

Thomas’ loan contract with Middlesborough expires at the end of this month, and the newly promoted Premier League team has yet to indicate if it will be extended.
