Lonzo Ball in serious danger: Bulls fear he may never play again

Lonzo Ball may never play basketball again. The Chicago Bulls are concerned that their 25-year-old point guard may be unable to play again due to left knee issues. He has had surgery three times due to his injuries, but nothing has improved. A potential NBA playmaker’s career is in risk.

Ball underwent a third surgery in March. He had to have a cartilage transplant. It was certain that he would not play this season, that he would miss most of next season or even that he would not be ready for the entire season. However, the Bulls are beginning to think that the most pessimistic scenario is that they will not be able to count on the point guard ever again.

Before this new operation, the player could not run or jump without pain despite all the recovery time he had been undergoing. In his daily life, he was also very limited, as he had difficulty going up and down stairs. Lonzo played his final game on Jan. 14, 2022, when Chicago was aiming high after adding him in the summer alongside Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Alex Caruso. However, his accident led the initiative to implode. Without him, the challenges at the helm were clear. The Bulls lost to the Bucks in the first round last year and to the Heat in the playoffs this season, who are now the Eastern Conference finalists.

Ball has finished the second year of his four-year, $80 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. While healthy, the point guard averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists over 35 games last season. The Bulls were 27-13 before physical issues arose, which have shaped the team’s subsequent direction and may end Ball’s career at age 25.
