On Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced the re-signing of backup quarterback Jake Browning to a two-year deal

In nine appearances last season, Browning—who signed with the Bengals practice squad in 2021—completed a league-best 70.3% of his throws for 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Starting, he had a 4-3 record.
Last season, Browning replaced quarterback Joe Burrow as the Bengals’ starting quarterback when the latter suffered a wrist injury that ended his season in Week 11. On November 26, in Cincinnati, he started his first game of the season and finished 19 of 26 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in a 16-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After that, he guided the Bengals to three straight victories. In order to miss the playoffs, the Bengals dropped two of their final three games.

Browning’s current contract expires in 2025. On Tuesday, the Bengals also signed quarterback Logan Woodside, a free agent, to a one-year deal.

The Bengals selected Woodside, 29, in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Atlanta Falcons were his team for the previous two seasons. Woodside was a Tennessee Titans player as well.
During his first 14 NFL games, Woodside completed 4 of 7 passes for 34 yards and one interception.
