In the second game of the Maple Leafs’ first-round playoff series, William Nylander is still expected to play.

The standout winger for Toronto missed the first game of the season, which ended in a 5-1 loss, due to an unspecified ailment.

Nylander was not included in line rushes during the morning skate at TD Garden today, but head coach Sheldon Keefe stated that his status will be assessed after the practice before the puck drops.

During the regular season, the 27-year-old Swede participated in all 82 games for Toronto, scoring 40 goals and reaching a career-high 98 points.

Nylander had previously lost time due to illness, but before to this series, he hadn’t missed any time due to an injury since the 2016–17 campaign.

In Game 1, Nick Robertson, a rookie winger from Toronto, replaced Nylander in the starting lineup. In 56 games between 2023–24, the 22-year-old scored 14 goals and totaled 27 points.

Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series will be played in Toronto on Wednesday and Saturday.
