Dan Bardell is not surprised by the news that Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey will miss the remainder of the season.
Unai Emery said on April 21 that Ramsey, 22, will not play competitively until next season due to a foot injury [The Athletic].
This season has been fantastic for the Villans, who are strongly in contention for a Champions League position with little time remaining in the Premier League.
Emery has worked miracles despite his team’s injury problems, which began in preseason and have continued throughout the season.
Stars like as Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings have missed the entire season, while Boubacar Kamara and Ramsey are now out for the duration. Bardell says the latter has not been himself, even when he has appeared.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “Jacob Ramsey’s season has been a disaster, nearly a write-off. Although he has played 21 games this season, he has not been as impressive as Jacob Ramsey was last season.Every time he’s returned, he’s just broken down with an injury again, and it’s just something that hasn’t managed to be fixed completely.
How has Jacob Ramsey performed for Aston Villa?
It has been a shame for the attacking midfielder who has failed to truly have an impact on the Villa team this season. Ramsey, 22, has played just 16 times in the Premier League where he has contributed to one goal and one assist [FotMob].
This is a far cry from the season prior where, according to the Premier League website, he contributed to six goals and seven assists in 35 games.
Under Emery’s tutelage, he was looking as if he was realising his potential with some great performances as Villa secured a Conference League spot. He came off for England during the Under-21s EURO’s during the summer and hasn’t found consistent fitness since.
As Bardell said, this has forced Rogers into the limelight who has gotten better week on week since his move from Middlesbrough.
He has a goal and assist of his own in just five Premier League starts [FotMob] but has shown his quality with his versatile performance against Arsenal.
It is frustrating that Ramsey has missed out so much but there are silver linings and the Englishman will be like a new season next campaign.
