LATEST NEWS UPDATE : Former Coach Reveals Bombshell Thoughts On Andy Reid’s……..
There were rumors that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could be considering retirement, especially if the Chiefs end up completing a three-peat next season.
However, former NFL head coach Mike Smith doesn’t see Reid stepping away anytime soon.
“I don’t know how much longer he’s going to go but I don’t anticipate him stepping out before [Patrick] Mahomes does,” Smith told Betway Insider.
“He’s going to stay right where he is as long as Mahomes is there. If Patrick decides he wants to retire early, then Andy may consider retiring but people don’t realize coach Reid is a grinder. He loves the preparation as much as the competition. He’s the mad scientist and we see it with all the Andy Reid signature plays which they run in pivotal moments.”
Mahomes is only 28 years old and probably has at least a decade of football left in him, barring any major injuries or unforeseen circumstances.
Could that mean Reid will be around for at least another 10 years?
Reid just turned 66 years old and has a lot of mileage. He first broke into the NFL as an assistant for the Green Bay Packers in 1992 and spent seven seasons there before earning his first head-coaching job with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999.
The Los Angeles native proceeded to spend 14 seasons with the Eagles, going 140-102-1 with one Super Bowl appearance and six NFC East division titles.
After his long tenure in Philadelphia, Reid linked up with the Chiefs in 2013, and since then, he has established himself as one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, collecting three Super Bowl championships and leading Kansas City to eight straight AFC West division crowns.
Reid has guided the Chiefs to four Super Bowl appearances overall and has gone 144-58 throughout his time in Kansas City.
One thing if for sure: we know that Andy Reid will be on the sidelines for the Chiefs in 2024.
