REST IN PEACE: Today marks the funeral for a crucial Celtics player who was killed in a car accident.
Around 2.45 p.m., emergency personnel arrived at the scene and declared Alison McGoff deceased at Parkhead.

The St Margaret’s Celtic Supporters Club released the following statement: “We are sad to announce the death of one of our members, Alison McGoff, at Celtic Park yesterday. A depressing day for our group.

“May you RIP, Allison. You will be missed.”

Additionally, Ms. McGoff received praise from MP Steve Bonnar, who accompanied her on the 2014 independence campaign.

Tributes have been paid to a football fan and political campaigner who died at Celtic Park ahead of a match on Saturday.

Alison McGoff was pronounced dead at Parkhead after emergency services responded to the incident at around 2.45pm.

A spokesperson for St Margaret’s Celtic Supporters Club said: “Sadly one of our members Alison McGoff passed away at Celtic Park yesterday. A sad day for our club.

“Alison you will be missed may you RIP.”

MP Steve Bonnar also paid tribute to Ms McGoff, who he campaigned with for independence in 2014.

In a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, the MP called the 54-year-old a “kindred spirit.

Police Scotland said Ms McGoff’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Celtic FC said: “We regret to confirm that tragically, a 54-year old woman died suddenly at Celtic Park prior to yesterday’s match.

“Her next of kin have been informed and we would like to extend our most sincere condolences to her family.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are very much with them following this tragic incident.

“Celtic will provide all necessary support we can at this time.”
