According to an ESPN report, Kyogo Furuhashi was reportedly arrested for the death of a teammate during today’s training.
Following the release of film purportedly depicting fans screaming a racist song, Police Scotland opened an inquiry.
Due to a video that purports to capture racist slurs being chanted about a Celtic football player, two guys have been taken into custody.
The video, which was presumably shot aboard a supporters’ bus, went viral on social media.
The two males, aged thirty and twenty-six, are facing charges related to a purported hate crime against Japan international Kyogo Furuhashi.
The video was reported to Police on Monday, August 23, following which Rangers announced it had banned those allegedly involved from all matches “indefinitely”.
The two men have been released on an undertaking and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said a full report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The force spokesperson said: “Enquiries are continuing to identify others involved and anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Police Scotland via 101, or by making a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
