Newcastle United star Alexander Isak has spoken out about the rumours of him leaving St James’ Park this summer amid soft links with Arsenal.

Isak might be sold if Newcastle need money given their Financial Fair Play concerns, which prevented them from spending in January. Since the Saudi takeover of the club, the Magpies have spent more than £500m and will likely sell a number of fringe players at the end of the campaign.

Newcastle could have more room for manoeuvre anyway given their Champions League involvement this term and so, with Isak a very important player for Eddie Howe, they might not be so hard-pressed to sell. But Isak hasn’t said he’ll definitely stay at Newcastle. If there’s no Champions League football next year, there is a possibility that he will think about going somewhere else.

When asked about the transfer talk by Expressen, Isak said: “It doesn’t affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows. I see it as just such a thing. Everyone knows that summer is coming and if things show up, things can happen, but I actually haven’t even thought about it.”
