Days before a crucial match, FIJI rugby player Api Ratuniyarawa sexually molested three teenagers in a bar. For this, he was sentenced to prison.
The 37-year-old had drunk three nights in a row before groping the females, who were all 19 years old, at Revolution in Cardiff on Halloween.
Just three days later, Ratuniyarawa was scheduled to represent the Barbarians against Wales at the Principality Stadium.
The athlete was cut from the team a few hours before the game after he was charged.
Ratuniyarawa has now served a two-year and ten-month sentence in prison.
In addition to one allegation of sexual assault, he had admitted to two charges of assault by penetration.
Ratuniyarawa will serve the remaining portion in the community and up to half in jail.
At Cardiff Crown Court, the attacks that took place at the cocktail bar in the city center between October 31 and November 1 were heard.
The father of four had spent the previous three days drinking excessively with his rugby teammates before initiating the attacks.
Despite having spent the week in Wales getting ready for the match, prosecutor Heath Edwards claimed that he “appears to have spent many of his nights socialising” instead.
