CINCINNATI BENGALS SHAME: Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Bengals, was sentenced to prison after molesting three teenagers at the club a few days before a pivotal game.
Joe Burrow saw himself sitting on the sideline as the Cincinnati Bengals were humiliated, just one day after inking a record-breaking NFL contract.

The Bengals’ lone points came from a field goal in the third quarter as they were defeated 24-3 by the Cleveland Browns in the battle of Ohio. Burrow finished the game with just 82 yards because the Bengals’ offensive line was unable to handle the Browns’ defense.

Burrow was outplayed by DeShaun Watson, who is beginning his first full season with the Browns, going 14 of 31 in the season opener. In 2022, the Bengals won the AFC North with a 12-4 regular season record, while the teams in their division had a 7-10 record.

With just than four minutes remaining, the Bengals benched most of their offensive players and waved the white flag, leaving the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL looking distressed on the sidelines. Burrow told reporters that there are still 16 games to go and that he is not currently in a panic.

“Nobody is panicking in here, guys,” Burrow said. “Week One doesn’t define anybody’s season. Obviously, not very good out there. Anybody that watched saw that. But we have been in this spot before and come back stronger and had great years. That’s what we are going to do.”

Burrow reflected on what went wrong on the sidelines during the fourth quarter

Burrow was initially doubtful for Week 1 after suffering a calf strain during training camp, but the Bengals were given a major boost when he was cleared to start ahead of the opening weekend. But Burrow was sacked twice on Sunday and struggled to find his usual targets.

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase only managed 39 yards off five receptions, and two AFC heavyweights have now suffered shock defeats after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. It’s likely a minor blip in both of their seasons, but it was an embarrassing day for Burrow after signing his new contract extension just 24 hours earlier.
