Could the New York Yankees pull off another shock this offseason? They have already stunned the baseball world once.

Superstar slugger Juan Soto was acquired by New York in a blockbuster trade with the San Diego Padres, gaining one of the best players in baseball. The Yankees have also been hard at work enhancing other facets of the team.

By the end of the 2023 season, the Yankees already seem like a very different squad. Even though New York is already among the greatest teams in the American League, adding another starting pitcher would help the squad considerably.

To provide the team more alternatives and depth, New York could use one or more extra starters. The Yankees would benefit even more if they were able to sign a star player as opposed to a mid-tier alternative.

Blake Snell, the 2023 National League Cy Young Award winner, is still a free agent and has been linked to the Yankees on several occasions.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Yankees are the only team that has formally offered him a contract, even if they haven’t been able to close a deal as of yet.

“The Yankees reportedly offered Snell a six-year, $150 million contract, but the reigning NL Cy Young winner turned it down, wanting either a higher average annual value – a deal worth at least $30 million per year – or a longer contract,” Feinsand stated. Although several teams have shown interest in the lefty, Snell has only received one offer, according to a source, from New York.
