This year’s 2024 NFL Draft saw the Cincinnati Bengals acquire two compensatory selections; this is the first time since 2021 that they have had additional picks from the comp picks procedure.
However, one expert on such topics believes that the NFL may have made a mistake in awarding the two sixth-round selections.
The authority on compensatory selections, Nick Korte of Over The Cap, claims that the Bengals may have lost as much as a third-round selection due to the league’s assessment of contracts and player valuations that were lost to other teams.
Jessie Bates, in Korte’s opinion, ought to have been considered a third-round pick rather than a fourth. Fourth, the addition of Orlando Brown Jr. by Cincinnati in free agency offset the loss of him:
