Right-handed reliever Clarke Schmidt  has been placed on the 15-day IL, retroactive to Sept. 22, with right shoulder inflammation.

While the move is retroactive, it will end  Clarke Schmidt season since there are only seven games left.

To replace Clarke Schmidt on the roster, right-handed reliever Matt Bowman was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Wandy Peralta has been placed on the 15-day IL due to a left triceps strain, with the Yankees calling Yoendrys Gomez up from Double-A Somerset to take his roster spot.

While Peralta’s IL stint is backdated to Sept. 19, he does not have enough time to return this season — barring a miracle run to the playoffs since the regular season ends on Oct. 1.

Peralta had another strong season in 2023, with a 2.83 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He struck out 51 batters in 54 innings over 63 appearances.

The Yankees announced that outfielder Jasson Domínguez underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a UCL tear.

The club characterized the procedure as Tommy John reconstruction surgery, which included the addition of internal bracing. The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas.

The Yanks say the anticipated recovery process is expected to take 9-10 months.

SNY MLB insider Andy Martino wrote last week that “Meister is known as an expert on the internal bracing procedure” and he performed the operation on Bos Red Sox infielder Trevor Story who returned to action after just seven months.

Outfielder Everson Pereira hasn’t played since Sept. 14 against the Red Sox, and we now know why.

Manager Aaron Boone, appearing on his weekly spot on theTalkin’ Yankspodcast, explained that the 22-year-old is dealing with a hamstring injury, and an IL stint is a possibility.

“He’s got a little hamstring going on,” said Boone. “Very low-grade, so we’re kind of in that boat now of do we give it a couple more days, do we back-date and do a quick IL stint? Because we do think he’s going to play again this season, but I don’t know if it’s two days from now, tomorrow, or five days from now.”

Since being called up, Pereira is slashing .143/.241/.186 with seven RBI in 21 games.

The Yankees placed LHP Anthony Misiewicz on the 7-day concussion injured list Saturday following a scary scene Friday night in Pittsburgh.

The left-hander took a line drive off the left side of his head in the sixth inning and was down for several minutes. He was luckily able to stand up on his own before getting carted off the field and later going to Allegheny General Hospital to undergo testing.

The Yankees provided an update later Friday night, saying he was alert and oriented following the incident.

In a corresponding move, the team reinstated RHP Ian Hamilton from the 15-day injured list.

jan. 15, 9:00 p.m.

Yankees left-hander Anthony Misiewicz had a scary moment on Friday night when he was forced to leave the game after taking a line drive off the left side of his head in the sixth inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Misiewicz was down for several minutes and blood could be seen on the side of his head as trainers rushed to attend to him.

Players on both the Yankees and Pirates dropped to one knee while Misiewicz remained on the ground being evaluated by medical staff and a cart came out for him.

The 28-year-old journeyman pitcher was able to stand up on his own and walk to the cart while trainers pressed the towel against his head where he was bleeding. Misiewicz was then carted off for further evaluation.

The Yankees later released a statement that Misiewicz was alert and oriented and was being taken to Allegheny General Hospital to undergo testing.

The Yankees claimed Misiewicz off waivers from the Detroit Tigers in July and he was recalled from Triple-A on Sunday. He had not allowed a run in his previous two outings until Friday when a run scored on the play where he was injured.
