The performance of the New York Mets in the upcoming 2024 season could be exciting to watch.

Mets' Pete Alonso has plan to be complete hitter again

It was obvious that the front staff had no intention of shelling out big bucks this winter to try to assemble a competitive roster.

Given the shortcomings that transpired in 2023, it is understandable why.

The Mets’ terrible start eliminated them from the playoff picture, forcing them to be sellers before the trade deadline in order to recoup assets.

That might occur once more this year.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report believes that if that happens, New York will make an unexpected trade of its superstar Pete Alonso to the Toronto Blue Jays before the deadline.

There would be a stir with this.

Alonso, who was selected in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft, has developed into one of the game’s best power hitters, leading the league in home runs during his 2019 Rookie of the Year campaign.

In the last five years, he has amassed ostentatious hitting totals of about 200 home runs and 500 RBI. He has a 136 career OPS+.

Why would the Mets even consider dealing their franchise’s leader?

He is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season.
