At a Wednesday speech to the European Parliament, Yulia Navalnaya stated, “I am not sure yet whether it will be peaceful or whether the police will arrest those who have come to say goodbye to Alexei.”

The funeral homes that Navalny’s team was able to engage with were either directly prohibited or rejected to work with them after they found out who the burial was for. This made it difficult for them to assist with the arrangements.

Russia’s prominent opposition leader Navalny, who passed away unexpectedly in an Arctic prison colony earlier this month, will have a farewell ceremony on Friday morning in Moscow’s Maryino neighborhood. This will be followed by a funeral service at Borisovskoye Cemetery and a burial.
