GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (Gray News/KKCO): Following a string of reported car and property thefts in and around Garfield County, Colorado, authorities claimed that the 18-year-old son of Representative Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was taken into custody on Tuesday and is expected to face 22 counts.

According to the Rifle Police Department, Tyler Boebert is accused of four counts of criminal possession of a financial device, three counts of first-degree criminal auto trespass with intent to commit a crime, four counts of criminal possession of ID documents, one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, four counts of possession of ID theft with intent to use, three counts of contributing to a minor’s delinquency, and three counts of theft less than $300.

Currently spending her second term as the representative is 37-year-old Lauren Boebert.

According to police records, Tyler Boebert is accused of committing three further acts of criminal trespass in addition to breaking into a car at a residence in a Rifle residential zone. The summary lists six victims, ages ranging from three to sixty-four years.

Three other individuals, all in the 16–17 age range, are charged with several offenses. Of the three, one was a teenage boy and the other two were teenage girls. Because they are juveniles, law enforcement has not been able to identify them.

Lauren Boebert made her statement about an hour before her son’s Wednesday court date. She said, “I love my son Tyler, who has been the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for and has gone through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man.” My child’s struggles and current circumstances crush my heart, especially because he has had numerous chances to turn his life around. I’ll always be there for him and I won’t give up on him. Tyler will accept responsibility for his acts as an adult and a father, and he should be held accountable for bad choices, just like any other citizen.
