HawaiiNewsNow.com reports that Arizona Wildcats RB Abram Smith and current Wisconsin safety Kamoi Latu, who were teammates in high school, have reached a settlement to end a civil lawsuit pertaining to a sexual assault case that was previously handled in juvenile court.
The two teammates from St. Louis School (Honolulu) were charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in October 2023.
She turned 20 this year.
De Laura is twenty-one years old.
In December 2024, the first complaint was submitted in the civil court case.According to the Arizona Athletics Department, the incident was initially brought to their attention in the fall of 2024
The university released a statement saying, “After receiving the matter, the determination was made to allow de Laura to continue as a student-athlete and his status remains unchanged.”
Court documents described the victim as a friend of de Laura and Latu. When she was in high school, she drove to St. Louis School with her mother and a friend after a football game to encourage the football team by giving the players lei.
