The Battlehawks open their season on the road at the Michigan Panthers on March 30.
Ka-Kaw! — St. Louis There’s more cause for St. Louis Battlehawks supporters to be enthusiastic about the approaching spring football season.
A. J. McCarron, the quarterback, has agreed to rejoin the Battlehawks for the 2024 United Football League campaign.
After the XFL season concluded, McCarron was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. 2014 saw Cincinnati draft him. In seven NFL seasons, he tallied six touchdowns and three interceptions.
For the last six games of the 2023–24 NFL season, he was a member of the team’s active roster.
He had an XFL record of 24 touchdown passes with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2023. According to a press release, he also ranked second with 203 completions and 2,150 passing yards and topped the league with a 68.8% completion rate.
Due to tiebreaker regulations, St. Louis finished with a 7-3 record and was not eligible for the playoffs.
Following the merger of the XFL and USFL late in the previous season, the UFL was established as a spring football league, and McCarron and the Battlehawks will participate in it. Each league saw four teams make the leap; these teams will be grouped into conferences according to their origins.
On March 30, the Battlehawks go to the Michigan Panthers to kick off the season. The Arlington Renegades will be the opponent for the inaugural home game in The Dome at America’s Center on April 6.
