Saint Paul, Minnesota — Bill Guerin, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Minnesota Wild, announced today that the team has reassigned forward Adam Beckman to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and signed forward Mason Shaw to a two-way contract ($775,000/$400,000) for the remaining 2023–24 season. On Friday, February 16, Shaw will work out with Minnesota at TRIA Rink in St. Paul.
Shaw, 25, (11/3/1998), has played in nine games with Iowa this season and has seven points (4-3=7), 13 penalty minutes (PIM), two shorthanded goals (SHG), and one game-winning goal (GWG). During the 2022–2023 NHL season, the 5-foot–10, 184-pound product of Wainwright, Alberta, skated in 59 games for Minnesota, recording 17 points (7–10=17), 79 PIM, 92 shots, and 27 blocked shots. With Minnesota throughout the course of two seasons (2021–2023), the left-shot forward has played in 62 NHL games and has recorded 17 points (7–10=17), 84 PIM, 99 shots, and 28 blocked shots.
Shaw spent portions of seven seasons (2017–24) playing in the AHL for Iowa, where he amassed 197 games played, 121 points (43–78=121), 213 PIM, 10 power-play goals (PPG), 8 GWG, and 416 shots on goal. In three games of the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs, he skated as well, with a plus-3 rating and an assist.
Shaw was chosen by the Wild in the 97th overall fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He’s wearing Minnesota on his sweater number 15.
On Saturday, February 17 at 4 p.m. CT on Bally Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM, the Wild will host the Buffalo Sabres.
