Quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is “praying for Kansas City” following the team’s Super Bowl parade celebration on Wednesday that resulted in numerous shootings and at least one fatality.

Up to 22 individuals may have been injured in the incident, according to Kansas City Police Department Chief Stacey Graves, and three suspects are currently being held. Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, has confirmed that all of the Chiefs’ players, coaches, and staff are safe.

“This is absolutely a tragedy that we would have never expected in Kansas City,” Lucas stated.

The wife of Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes, who attended the Super Bowl parade, called the shooting “horrible and traumatizing” in a lengthy statement that she shared on Insta Story.
