Thursday was the NBA trade deadline, and no significant blockbuster deals were made. But it wasn’t for lack of trying.

Here's How LeBron James Became the NBA's First Billionaire

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, the Philadelphia 76ers were also in contact with the Los Angeles Lakers over a possible trade for LeBron James. The Lakers simply stated that the superstar wasn’t available on both occasions.

To make matters worse, the Lakers became audacious as well. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was contacted by 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey regarding James. Pelinka questioned Morey about the availability of 76ers star center Joel Embiid after Morey had rejected him.

Unsurprisingly, Morey stated that his 29-year-old MVP winner and mainstay of the team was not for sale. That concluded their brief exchange of words.

There seems to be a pattern of Morey making audacious approaches at the deadline. He also attempted to inquire about Kevin Durant with the Phoenix Suns, but the story states that he was promptly turned down.
