The Seattle Mariners aren’t getting any love from former top prospect Jarred Kelenic, who they traded to the Atlanta Braves to dump salary Sunday night.
Outfielder Jarred Kelenic’s time with the Seattle Mariners was bumpy to say the least, and it doesn’t seem like the former top prospect has the fondest feelings for his now-former team.
Kelenic, who was traded to the Atlanta Braves alongside starting pitcher Marco Gonzales and first baseman Evan White on Sunday night, took to social media to address the move Monday afternoon. Despite thanking Seattle fans, his teammates, his family, God and the Braves, the Mariners organization was completely omitted from Kelenic’s farewell post
To the fans, I thank you for your energy, your enthusiasm and your support. Thank you for always having my back through the ups and the downs. You guys will always hold a place in my heart and it was truly a blessing to lace up those spikes and play in front of you the last couple years.
To my teammates, I feel honored and blessed to have shared the field with each one of you and will forever be grateful for the countless memories.
To the Braves Organization, I want to thank you for this opportunity and this new chapter. I am beyond excited to be an Atlanta Brave and I look forward to the friendships and opportunities the future holds.
Thank you to my family for always supporting me since I was little and allowing me to chase this dream of mine
.Lastly, I truly want to thank God. I thank you for the experiences and relationships I have built and lessons I have learned. I’m thankful for your guidance through the ups and the downs. I look forward to what you have in store for me moving forward
The Mariners first acquired Kelenic – the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft – in a blockbuster trade with the New York Mets. Kelenic became the club’s top prospect by 2020, and he was fast-tracked to the big leagues by the time he was 21 years old in 2021.
