After the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 17-31 AFC Wild Card loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, head coach Mike Tomlin stormed out of the news conference. The longest-serving coach in Pittsburgh Steelers history stressed that he was not yet prepared to respond to inquiries about his future there.

Tomlin’s next move was bound to come up given the amount of talk surrounding his future. Before the game, a lot of people said that Tomlin would talk to his family and make a firm decision about his future as an NFL coach.

Tomlin grabbed the podium to answer questions from the media as part of his customary post-game availability, but things got crazy when ESPN reporter Brooke Pryor said,

Even if there have been vain attempts to end the team’s postseason drought since 2016, Tomlin’s tenure as Pittsburgh’s coach is rather legendary. Since Bill Belichick left the New England Patriots last week, he has the longest tenure of any head coach in the National Football League.

Is the front office of the Steelers firing Mike Tomlin in the offseason? Though sources indicate that the 51-year-old head coach may step down, regardless of the remaining year on his contract, it is a very unlikely scenario.
