Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – In memory of his mother and four aunts who lost their lives to breast cancer, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams was first told he could not wear pink for the duration of the season.

Cam Heyward, a defensive lineman with the Pittsburgh Steelers, claims he was penalized for remembering his father, who died of brain cancer.

DeAngelo Williams is funding 53 mammograms as a way to demonstrate his commitment to raising awareness of breast cancer.

Williams suffered the loss of four aunts and his mother to breast cancer. His mother was 53 years of age.

Williams is sponsoring 53 women’s mammograms at a Charlotte, North Carolina hospital in her honor.
