WOODSTOCK, Ont. – Hundreds of mourners came to remember the tiny girl sobbed as 11-year-old brother of Victoria Stafford broke down in tears during her funeral service on Saturday. He was having difficulty getting through a poignant tribute to his younger sister.

Partway through his speech, the courageous little Daryn began to cry for his best friend and sister, Tara McDonald. His mother Tara McDonald had to step in and read the heartfelt words her son had written.

When she finished reading the lines that revealed the true extent of Daryn’s suffering, everyone in the room let out an audible cry of desperation.

McDonald read aloud to her kid, her voice quivering, “All I can do is think about you and think that I’m your brother, which means that I’m supposed to protect you, but I guess that I didn’t.” Every day, save for the fatal day she disappeared, Daryn walked his sister home from school.

“But at the end of the day, I still find it difficult to say good night. I sat there hoping for your safe return all day every day. I promise not to forget to tell my children about you and I will always adore you.”

This tiny community in southwest Ontario was stunned to hear of the eight-year-old girl’s passing and was enthralled by her absence. Due to her passing, two persons are accused of first-degree murder.

Victoria’s family chose to organize a public memorial in order to aid in the community’s healing, even though the police have still not located her remains. Victoria’s mother, father, brother, and aunt gave moving addresses to an audience of over eight hundred people at a church. A musically accompanied slideshow including the young girl’s photos over the years was also presented.

Tori in a gorgeous pink dress opened and closed the images, the slideshow recounting the narrative of a bright, prosperous childhood that was cruelly cut short.

Daryn Stafford expressed that he would miss spending time with his sister, such as cuddling up in bed until it was time to head out for school, hugging her, giving her a good night kiss, and strolling to school together.
