Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of the most respected NFL players. Since joining the league in 2005, the 37-year-old veteran has worn the uniform for eight different teams. The Miami Dolphins quarterback, who was recently assigned to tutor Tua Tagovailoa, lost his mother unexpectedly on Saturday, which was a devastating blow. Ryan Fitzpatrick’s route to the NFL was not typical for an NFL player, and the Dolphins may need to adjust their plans at the most crucial position in football as the father of seven grieves the loss of his mother. The Arizona native attended Harvard for his collegiate ball career, while many players find success at elite universities. Fitzpatrick, who is well-known for his brilliance, used his record-breaking college career to earn a seventh-round draft selection.

With the 250th overall pick, the St. Louis Rams took a chance on the former Ivy League star. Before receiving his big break, he played just two seasons with the Rams and two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fitzpatrick, the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, rose to national prominence. He played brilliantly at times, but he also threw a lot of interceptions. After logging 53 starts and 80 touchdown passes, he started a genuine journeyman career.

Fitzpatrick has played for five different NFL teams since 2013. He replaced an injured Jameis Winston in 2018 and completed seven starts with 17 touchdown passes. He was a starter for the Dolphins last season, going 5-8 with 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Despite appearing to be the clear favorite to get the No. 1 pick, his leadership was a major factor in the team’s 5-4 finish in the last stretch.
