In the final moments of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed a potentially game-winning field goal. He was visibly devastated, displaying emotions comparable to those of the most ardent Bills Mafia member. Bass stated, “I feel terrible,” following the game. It hurts because I love this team so much. In addition, it was hurtful that Bass removed his social media accounts following his unsuccessful 44-yard attempt in the last seconds of the AFC Divisional Round game, amid claims that the veteran kicker had been threatened with death by fictitious “fans.” However, other fans have reacted by showing their support.

Tyler Bass deactivates social media; Bills fans donate in support

Ten Lives Club’s Kimberly LaRussa reported that a large number of people donated $22 to a foundation that rescues cats in Bass’s memory. As of early Monday evening, nearly $7,000 had been raised, according to Katherine Fitzgerald of the Buffalo News. “That’s when we kind of learned that he was receiving a little hate today from yesterday’s football game,” LaRussa explained. “And when they watch the Bills game, all of our supporters at Ten Lives Club are cheering for Tyler, so we were really disappointed to hear that. That’s because he supported Ten Lives Club the previous year and he adores cats.

Ten Lives Club claimed in a Facebook post that donations in Bass’ honor were “ringing off the hook” and that their phones were “ringing off the hook.” Bills Mafia has already banded together for charity causes. They gave almost $44,000 to Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton’s foundation six years ago after he led a victory that advanced the Bills into the postseason. Following the terrifying head injury that Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered in 2022, they made a donation to his foundation. The 26-year-old Bass had a poor postseason since in two games, he missed three of his five kicks. Nonetheless, Josh Allen, the star quarterback, has rallied his teammates to his defense. Allen’s catchphrase in this situation is “You win as a team, you lose as a team.” Thankfully, most of Bills Mafia appears to get that.
