Texas’s Frisco (AP) — After Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones requested that CeeDee Lamb wear the number used by some of the greatest receivers in team history, Lamb came to enjoy No. 88. After the Cowboys sold Amari Cooper two years ago, deciding it was his time, he then adapted to being Dak Prescott’s top target.

The 2020 first-round selection now feels he is among the NFL’s finest after putting together the greatest receiving season the legendary team has ever witnessed. Still, this is only the beginning.

Lamb declared, “I’m unquestionably one of the best receivers in this game.” “I gave it everything I had to be that and speak that with assurance. Being elite is admirable, but how reliable is it? The next question is: How long can you stay elite? I’m excited about it. I’m eager.

It will wait, though. Lamb’s first goal is to advance the Cowboys (12-5) to the next round of the playoffs for the first time in 28 years. They’re in a better position than in any of his past two postseason visits, partly because of his breakout season.

The No. 2 seed in the NFC, Dallas, takes on Green Bay (9-8) at home on Sunday in a wild-card game. The Cowboys have won 16 straight games. If they triumph, they’ll play at AT&T Stadium once more.

When you question Lamb about figures, he’ll quickly say something about how winning is all that counts to him. Even for him, it has been difficult to ignore the figures this season.

Lamb won the Cowboys’ sixth Super Bowl title and shattered both of Jerry Jones Jerry Jones club records from 1995, the last time the team advanced to the NFC championship game.

The former Oklahoma star’s 1,749 yards were second only to four-time All-Pro Tyreek Hill, but his 135 catches were 16 more than anybody else in the NFL. Lamb could be about to receive his first All-Pro selection.

Speaking with Irvin, a three-time Super Bowl winner and one of the previous 88s, was “a big moment for me, of

course,” Lamb remarked. Essentially, the final message was, “Now it’s time to go chase the ring.” I agree with that. That has been and continues to be my ultimate goal.

When Lamb was selected by the Cowboys at No. 17 in a draft that was stocked at his position, they were taken aback. Six players were selected in the first round, with two receivers going before him.
