The Washington Commanders sacked Head Coach Ron Rivera this morning, and there are already reports of interest in individuals to replace him. Michigan Wolverines HC Bob Myers, the leader of the hunt for a new coach and head of football operations, is said to have contacted Jim Harbaugh’s agent. Rams DC Raheem Morris, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and Lions DC Aaron Glenn has already received interview requests from Washington.

Jordan Scultz has provided another name that the Washington Commanders would want to interview. Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn is the eighth rumored candidate for Washington’s open head coaching position. Quinn has been the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator since 2021, when he joined head coach Mike McCarthy’s staff. He was fired as Atlanta Falcons head coach in 2020 after leading the team for six seasons. Quinn’s defense in Dallas earned him some second looks as a head coach, but he decided to stay with the team last year. The Cowboys enter the playoffs this weekend as the NFC’s #2 seed.

There are already reports that Washington is interested in one former NFL head coach. Jim Harbaugh has been the subject of rumors about returning to the NFL since his departure. He is the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, who face the Washington Huskies tonight in the National Championship Game. He just recruited superagent Don Yee, and Bob Meyers apparently contacted him to test Harbaugh’s interest in going to Washington.

Harbaugh has been a divisive figure in both the NFL and college football. He has been a successful coach wherever he goes, but turmoil has followed him. He has been suspended three times this season, most recently at Michigan, and if he returns as head coach, he may face NFL penalties. If Harbaugh is serious about returning to the NFL as a coach, he will be in high demand.
