Despite playing twice against traditional playoff teams in the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles still controlled their fate to win the NFC East with three games remaining in the season. The odds that Philadelphia (11-5) might win the division for the second straight year with two games against the New York Giants (5-11) and Arizona Cardinals (4-12) appeared to be high, barring an incredible collapse. Then came the spectacular collapse, as they were defeated 35-31 by the Cardinals on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia will now need a victory over the Giants and the Washington Commanders, who have dropped seven straight games, in order to defeat the Cowboys (11-5) on Sunday.

Given the importance of the game and the Cardinals’ just three wins before Sunday, ESPN analysts and former NFL players Dan Orlovsky and Ryan Clark were extremely harsh on the Eagles on the show “Get Up!” The defeat was one of Philadelphia’s worst in recent memory, according to Orlovsky. “Given the stakes and the opponent, this is one of the worst losses, regular season-wise for the Philadelphia Eagles in like 20 years,” Orlovsky said in a statement. ” The opponent is essentially playing for nothing. When it comes to genuinely mattering in the stakes of if you win, the division [and] the No. 2 seed are still up for grabs, and you get walked down the field at home vs. the Cardinals for a game-losing drive.”

From 2005 to 2015, Orlovsky was a quarterback for the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Clark was a safety for the New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Pittsburgh Steelers from 2002 to 2014. Clark and Orlovsky singled out the defense, which has given up game-winning drives to the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in the last three weeks and was a play away from doing the same to the Giants on Christmas. If the Eagles’ defense does not improve fast, Orlovsky feels they will be eliminated from the playoffs early.
