The Detroit Red  Wings will aim to win consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 30-Dec. 5 (three in a row) after a much-needed 5-4 overtime triumph over Nashville on Friday. They’ll get some help up front when Joe Veleno and Christian Fischer return from injury. Alex Lyon will make his debut in goal.

When scoring fewer than four goals, the Red Wings are still 0-15-1.

Patrick Kane remains their top scorer, with a six-game point run (five goals, six assists). Kane has 13 points in 12 games (six goals, seven assists). Alex DeBrincat, his linemate, has points in four straight games (two goals, seven assists).

The Red Wings have won both of their previous meetings with the Bruins, 5-2 in Boston and 5-4 in Detroit. This is the fourth and final meeting between the two squads.

Boston is coming off a 5-2 victory over New Jersey on Saturday, its second in a row. This came after a four-game losing streak (0-2-2). After a 9-0-1 start, the Bruins are now 12-7-5. They’ve been good on special teams, finishing fourth on the power play (27.9%) and third on the penalty kill (85.9%).

With 22 goals and 48 points, David Pastrnak leads the Bruins. Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman share the goaltending duties. Swayman is expected to start today after Ullmark played on Saturday.
