After a demanding spring campaign, Tadej Pogačar shows no signs of slowing down as he sets his sights firmly on two of cycling’s most prestigious Ardennes Classics: La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Despite speculation that fatigue from a packed racing schedule might hamper his performance, UAE Team Emirates has confidently dismissed any doubts, backing their star rider to shine once again.
Pogačar, who already boasts an impressive Classics résumé, appears energized rather than drained. Following strong showings earlier in the season, the Slovenian sensation is approaching the Ardennes with a renewed hunger, determined to leave his mark on two of the most challenging and revered one-day races in the calendar.
Speaking ahead of La Flèche Wallonne, Pogačar struck a confident tone. “Every race brings new energy,” he said. “Yes, it’s been a busy spring, but when you love what you do, tiredness takes a back seat. I’m ready to fight and give it everything.”
UAE Team Emirates has echoed this sentiment, citing Pogačar’s meticulous preparation and natural resilience. Team manager Mauro Gianetti emphasized that managing Pogačar’s workload has been a priority. “Tadej is in great condition,” Gianetti said. “He’s been carefully building towards these races, and mentally, he’s as motivated as ever.”
La Flèche Wallonne, with its infamous finishing climb up the Mur de Huy, is tailor-made for explosive climbers like Pogačar. His punchy acceleration and tactical sharpness will be key weapons against a strong field. Just days later, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, often called “La Doyenne” (“The Old Lady”), will offer a grueling test of endurance and strategy, terrains where Pogačar has already tasted success, having won the race in 2021.
The Slovenian’s versatility — blending climbing prowess with a ruthless sprint — makes him a formidable contender in both races. His UAE squad, packed with experienced support riders, is prepared to shepherd him through the crucial moments, ensuring he is perfectly positioned when the decisive attacks come.
Fans and analysts alike are watching closely to see if Pogačar can extend his incredible spring with more victories. If his current form is any indication, dismissing concerns of fatigue may not be wishful thinking, but a warning to his rivals: Tadej Pogačar is still very much hungry — and he’s coming for more.
