We never expected This : Florida State QB DJ Uiagalelei is being fired due to inappropriate….

July has come and gone, Florida State Seminoles fans, and that means football officially begins this month. As we turn the calendar to August, Mike Norvell and his staff sit at 13 commitments from high school prospects after racking up nine commitments in June and July.

Last year I wrote about the significance of June and July on the trail under Mike Norvell. To add to that data: in 2023, FSU earned nine commitments in those two months. That raised the average number of commitments in June and July to 8.75 heading into this year, which FSU again exceeded with nine commitments. The summer continues to pay major dividends for this staff.

Let’s take a look at the Seminoles’ targets who either plan to announce their commitments throughout the month of August or could pop this month based on our intel, and we’ll update regularly:

I’m only including Lockett here because he took an OV to FSU and certain other FSU sites have used him as click-bait fodder. He’s not coming to FSU.

The choice:

Offensive lineman Josh Petty – August 7

This one has been trending FSU’s way for a few months but by no means is it a slam dunk. Ohio State and Georgia Tech have made this interesting, particularly the Yellow Jackets, who are just a short car ride away from Petty’s home. He is extremely close with his family but that is good news for FSU as well, because his sister is enrolling for the fall term. Tennessee and Stanford are on the outside looking in. Barring an insane NIL offer, I think Alex Atkins gets this done. Assuming FSU holds on, Petty would be the highest-rated OL signee in quite some time
