Congratulations: Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff but a new car which is $8.8 million dollars due to ….see more…

There’s a reason we remind our readers that when a player is placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) or Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, there is no reason to panic. Sometimes those stints just last days. For four Detroit Lions this year, that stint lasted just a matter of hours.

On Wednesday morning, the Lions placed four players on the NFI list: Tre’Quan Smith, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Carlton Davis, and Amik Robertson. By the end of the business day, all four players had passed their physicals and were activated from the list. They are now eligible to practice as soon as the team’s second training camp practice (Thursday morning).

After the Lions cleared three players from an injury list on Wednesday morning, just one player remains still held out from practice: defensive tackle DJ Reader. He is still on the PUP list, but that was expected as he continues to rehab from a torn quad suffered late in the 2023 season. Coach Dan Campbell notified the media in the spring that it was likely going to take some time into training camp for Reader to get back.

“I would say Reader is probably the one that’s going to take a minute,” Campbell said in June.

So the Lions will move through the first week of training camp at near full attendance, just as Campbell expected over a month ago.
