Jimmie L. Browner Jr., 68, passed away, according to the Tribune Chronicle. Both Jimmie’s brother Keith and Steve Arnold, the former football coach at Warren G. Harding, verified his death.
Prior to playing for the Fighting Irish and the Bengals in the NFL, Browner was a running back for Warren Western Reserve. On March 6, he passed away not far from Atlanta, Georgia.

Jimmie Browner Jr. played two positions for the Bengals and three positions in college.
Jimmie was a member of the 1972 Warren Western Reserve football team that won the state championship. He was born on December 4, 1955. He was also a part of the 1973 championship team that was defeated by the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals.
He would go on to play four seasons for Notre Dame, starting as a running back and finishing with 394 yards and two scores in his debut campaign. He was a defensive back for the last three years of his collegiate career.
He made five interceptions while starting every game over those three years. As a junior, he played a little while as a kick returner, returning eight kicks for an average of 16.6 yards.
He was selected by the Bengals as the No. 304 pick in the 12th round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He participated in 18 games over the course of two seasons with the team, serving as a kick returner and defensive back.
Of those eighteen games, six were started.
His Bengals career included one interception, two forced fumbles, and an average of 12.1 yards per return as a DB.
Ross, Jimmie’s older brother, passed away in January 2022 as a result of COVID-19 problems. For one season, the two of them were members of the same Bengals squad. Keith and Joey, his other brothers, were NFL players as well.
