Birmingham City has fired Wayne Rooney as manager.

This was revealed by Birmingham City Football Club in a statement that was uploaded to its official website on Tuesday.

According to the team, Rooney was let go because he didn’t live up to expectations.

“Birmingham City has today parted ways with Manager Wayne Rooney and First Team Coach Carl Robinson,” the statement stated.

“Despite their greatest efforts, the outcomes have fallen short of the initial, clearly stated goals. Consequently, the Board believes that the Football Club would benefit from a change in management.

“The Board and management of the Club are completely in sync and will persist in spearheading change and making audacious moves to reconstruct Birmingham City into the establishment its supporters and society have rightfully earned.”

“The Board wishes to officially acknowledge and express their profound gratitude to Wayne and Carl for their tireless work.”

Executive Chairman Garry Cook stated, “We are dedicated to doing whatever is required to bring success to St. Andrew’s.”

Wayne’s stay with us did not turn out as expected, so we have made the decision to go in a new way.

“We are starting the search for a successor right now, and we will notify supporters as soon as we learn more.”

The Professional Development Coach, Steve Spooner, “will assume responsibility for Men’s First Team matters on an interim basis,” according to information released by the cloud. In order to support Spooner, the remaining coaching staff members must carry out their responsibilities.

The all-time leading scorer for Manchester United and England was appointed Blues manager back in October, taking John Eustace’s place.
