In a shocking turn of events, veteran NASCAR driver Ricky Rudd, who has long been regarded as one of the sport’s most underappreciated drivers, has agreed to a huge $180 million contract. Rudd’s 23 career victories and more than 900 starts garnered him respect, but not necessarily the limelight. He was known for his toughness, which included racing with taped-open eyes following a crash.
Rudd will have a strong platform in the current NASCAR environment thanks to the arrangement, which includes positions in broadcasting, driver development, and possible team ownership.
“This is about giving back and honouring the sport,” Rudd stated. The decision is being hailed as long overdue recognition by both drivers and fans. Finally, one of the most tenacious and underappreciated drivers in NASCAR gets his chance—and a contract to go along with it.
