The Carolina Panthers have unveiled an ambitious $800 million renovation plan for Bank of America Stadium, aiming to transform the nearly 30-year-old venue into a state-of-the-art facility that enhances the fan experience and secures the team’s presence in Charlotte for the next two decades.
A Modernized Fan Experience
The renovation project focuses on delivering a world-class experience for fans, incorporating cutting-edge technology and improved amenities throughout the stadium. Key enhancements include:
- Advanced Technology: Installation of new video and audio systems, including high-definition scoreboards and a state-of-the-art sound system, to keep fans informed and entertained.
- Enhanced Seating and Accessibility: Brand-new seats will be installed throughout the stadium bowl, and accessibility will be improved to accommodate individuals with a range of disabilities.
- Redesigned Social Areas: Concourses and social spaces will be reimagined to provide unique gathering spots with skyline views, including a new patio on the 500 level.
- Upgraded Amenities: Restrooms will be modernized for better sustainability and speed of service, and concessions will offer a more diverse selection, featuring regional vendors from the Carolinas.

The renovation is a collaborative effort between Tepper Sports & Entertainment (TSE) and the City of Charlotte. The city’s contribution of $650 million will come from existing hospitality and tourism tax resources, which are legally designated for projects that support the city’s tourism economy. TSE will invest an additional $150 million, with potential overages covered by the organization.
This investment is expected to have a significant economic impact on the Charlotte region. In 2023, events at Bank of America Stadium generated an annual economic impact of $1.1 billion.
Timeline and Future Outlook
Construction on the stadium renovations is slated to begin in 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2029. Importantly, neither the Carolina Panthers nor Charlotte FC will need to relocate during this period. The renovation plan also includes a 20-year non-relocation agreement, ensuring that both teams will continue to call Charlotte home through at least 2045.
