As the 2025 college football season approaches, the University of Miami and quarterback Carson Beck have set ambitious goals that some analysts deem unrealistic. Beck, a transfer from Georgia, aims to replicate the success of Cam Ward, who led the Hurricanes to prominence and became the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Beck’s journey to Miami was unexpected. After declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, he reversed his decision due to a UCL injury sustained during the SEC Championship Game, which required surgery and sidelined him until March. Opting to transfer, Beck chose Miami, influenced in part by a substantial NIL deal reportedly worth $4 million and the presence of his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, a guard on the Hurricanes’ basketball team.
At Georgia, Beck compiled a 24–3 record as a starter, throwing for 7,912 yards and 58 touchdowns. However, his 2024 season saw a decline in performance, with a drop in completion percentage and an increase in interceptions.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has high expectations for Beck, anticipating him to be the “best version” of himself this season.
