SO SAD: It With Heavy Heart That Birmingham City Announce The Departure of Louanne Worsey After 12 years

Louanne Worsey Bids Farewell to Birmingham City After 12 Years

Louanne Worsey, a lifelong Birmingham City supporter and product of the club’s Regional Talent Centre, has announced her departure from the Blues after a 12-year association. The 19-year-old forward shared the emotional news on her social media, expressing gratitude for her time at the club and acknowledging the significant role it played in her development. She stated, “After 12 years at the club I love, my time at Blues has unfortunately come to an end. It’s very emotional for me to write this as this is my girlhood club and the club I support and cherish.”

Worsey made her senior debut for Birmingham City in November 2021 at the age of 16. In July 2023, she signed her first professional contract with the club. During the 2023–24 season, she was loaned to Nottingham Forest, where she made a significant impact by scoring 14 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions. Her performance earned her the FA Cup Fourth Round Player of the Round award after netting two goals against Plymouth Argyle.

In January 2025, Worsey joined Burnley on loan until the end of the 2024–25 season. Her departure from Birmingham City comes as part of a broader squad overhaul, with the club confirming that 12 players will be leaving this summer following a narrowly missed promotion to the Women’s Super League.

As she embarks on the next chapter of her career, Worsey’s contributions to Birmingham City will be remembered fondly by fans and the club alike. Her journey from a young academy player to a professional forward serves as an inspiration to aspiring footballers within the club’s ranks.
