Isaiah Stewart to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Knee Injury
Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart will miss the remainder of the 2024–25 NBA season due to persistent right knee inflammation. The injury, which sidelined him for the final two regular-season games, continued to hamper his availability during the playoffs. Stewart managed to play in Game 1 of the first-round series against the New York Knicks but was visibly limited and did not participate in the fourth quarter. Following an MRI, he was ruled out for subsequent games, and despite being listed as questionable for several matchups, he did not return to the court.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff acknowledged the challenges of reintegrating Stewart into the lineup during the high-stakes playoff series, stating, “It would be really difficult to put him in the situation.” Stewart’s absence was felt as the Pistons’ frontcourt faced difficulties containing the Knicks’ offensive efforts.
The Pistons concluded the season with a 44–38 record, marking a significant improvement from the previous year’s 14–68 finish. Despite the team’s progress and a historic playoff win—their first in 17 years—the season ended with a 2–4 series loss to the Knicks in the first round. (Wikipedia, Our Midland)
Stewart’s injury underscores the physical toll of the NBA season and the importance of player health in postseason success. As the Pistons look ahead, Stewart’s recovery and return to full strength will be pivotal for the team’s continued development and competitiveness in the Eastern Conference.
