The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners’ game rescheduled

 

The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners’ game rescheduled for Wednesday, may 30, 2025, at Yankee Stadium was postponed due to inclement weather. Heavy rain throughout the day and a forecast for continued showers led to the decision to call off the game nearly five hours before its scheduled start time. As a result, the Mariners’ only scheduled trip to New York that season was disrupted.

 

The postponed game was rescheduled for Monday, June 2, 2014, at 7:05 p.m. ET, which was an off-day for both teams. This adjustment required the Mariners to make a special trip back to the Bronx, as they were not slated to return to New York that season. The Yankees, on the other hand, had an off-day between home series against Minnesota and Oakland, making the rescheduled date feasible.

 

Due to the rainout, the Mariners’ ace, Felix Hernández, who was originally scheduled to pitch the series finale on Thursday, was pushed back. Rookie left-hander Roenis Elias, who was set to start Wednesday, instead pitched on Thursday. For the Yankees, Hiroki Kuroda took the mound as planned. David Phelps, who had been set to start Wednesday in place of the suspended Michael Pineda, made his first start of the season following nine relief appearances.

 

Fans holding tickets for the postponed game were offered the option to use them for the rescheduled game or exchange them for any regular-season game at Yankee Stadium within 12 months of the original date, subject to availability.
