MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Netflix continues to expand its lineup of sports storytelling with its latest announcement: a new documentary series centered on Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell and the team’s top players. The project, set for release in late 2025, promises an unprecedented inside look at one of the NFL’s most dynamic teams.
The series, tentatively titled “Skol: Inside the Vikings,” will chronicle the Vikings’ journey through the 2024-25 NFL season, spotlighting O’Connell’s leadership and the personalities, struggles, and triumphs of the team’s biggest stars. Cameras will follow key figures both on and off the field, capturing raw moments from the locker room, sidelines, and players’ personal lives.
“We’re excited to partner with Netflix to show the world what it means to be a Minnesota Viking,” O’Connell said in a statement. “This is about more than football — it’s about family, perseverance, and chasing greatness.”
According to Netflix, the series will highlight fan favorites including star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, quarterback J.J. McCarthy, standout defensive end Danielle Hunter, and a handful of rising young talents. The show aims to reveal the grit behind game day performances and explore how the team navigates the pressures of high expectations and the intense competition of the NFL.
Producers promise a blend of dramatic storytelling and intimate access, similar to the success of other sports documentaries like Quarterback and Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Filming reportedly began during training camp and continued throughout the regular season and playoffs.
“We want viewers to experience the emotions of victory, the sting of defeat, and everything in between,” said Netflix’s Vice President of Sports Content, Brandon Riegg. “Kevin O’Connell’s vision and the passion of his players make the Vikings one of the most compelling stories in sports today.”
Fans are already buzzing with excitement on social media, eager to see behind-the-scenes footage of their favorite players and the team’s culture.
